I'll start off with a picture of one of the meals I enjoy while in Thailand, spicy beef salad.
OK, back to where I left off last time.
It didn't make any since to me why I should be afraid/nervous to be in Thailand. I'd been to the Philippines, Korea, Yemen and several other countries for a day here and a day there. Here I am standing in the exotic country of Thailand and I couldn't get out of the door. It took a while but, I got out the door and across the soi, soi is the Thai word for street, to a beer garden. I ended up drinking orange juice and coke for a couple of hours talking to a guy from Scotland. This guy set me straight, I had nothing to be afraid of. Thailand was a very safe country and I should go out and have a great time. So that's what I did, I went to places I had never heard of and couldn't find places I planned to see but, all in all that first trip is what hooked me. That was in 2002 and I've been back to Thailand 7 times. My next trip will be this February. My plans are to stay one day in Bangkok then the next day flying up to Khon Kaen. Since my first trip I've tried not to spend much time in Bangkok. I know some people who just love Bangkok, for me it's to big, hot and suffocating. I'm going to spend two days in Khon Kaen having a look around. Remember I said I was going to move to Thailand in 2010 well I have to find some where to move to. Most of the places I've been so far have been tourist towns and I don't think any of them would be a good place to retire to. A few trips back I went to Chang Mai in the hopes that Chang Mai would be my retirement town, well to keep this short, I'm still looking.
After a few days in Khon Kaen I'm off to Korat for one or two days of site seeing and some more golf. Where ever I move to there has to be a few good golf courses and that may be Khon Kaens down fall as I've heard there's not much for golf in the area. But I'll wait to see for my self.
