Before my first trip to Thailand I spent a lot of time on
the internet and much of that time was about food.
During one of those searches a blogger talked about the
best street vendor soup he'd eaten.
Of course during my first trip I had to find this vendor.
During every trip to thailand I had at least one or two bowl of
this great soup.

During all my trips across the ocean my body clock is all messed up for at
least the first 4 or 5 days and I'm always asleep by 7 pm, sometimes even
sooner. So I'm always up early drinking my first cup of coffee around 2 am.
After my coffee I'll take a walk and usually look for somethings to eat. On this trip I
found what I think is now the best bowl of Pho type soup I've eaten.
Below is a picture of the soup (half eaten) and a picture of the street vendor.
If you are ever in Pattaya and need a great bowl of soup this is the place to get your fix.
All the countries I've visited so far.

I spent a lot of my vacation time in the dentist chair, this left my upper jaw numb a lot of the trip and sometimes a little bit uncomfortable. So the best thing to eat would be soup and I really like soup. I like most thai soups and I've tried all kinds. I split thai soup into two types clear soups like the Pho soup from Veitnam and the second type being all other thai soups. Having read this you now know I'm not much of a food know it all. I just eat what I like and that's a lot of soup.

The soup you see above is made near soi Buakao and soi Diana and it used to be my first choice for this type of soup, that has all changed after this trip. Most of the time I'd get out of the dentist chair and back to the hotel by 4pm and would be drained. I'd be so wore out that I'd be sleeping by 530 or so. I'd wake up around 1am ready to go. After a cup of coffee I'd hit the street looking for something to eat. During my early morning ventures I found a soup place that by 0300 was still going strong. There'd be a line waiting to order and most of the tables would be full. Well, you know the old saying, if the locals like the place it has to be good. Well in this case it holds true. More on this place later.

If you want to try a close second and you can't go wrong with the soup pictured above just head down soi Diana. Once you come to soi Boukaow look straight, you'll see a family mart on your left and a 7-11 on your right. Walk straight ahead right between the two stores and you'll see the soup vendor on your left shortly after the family mart. Order your soup and enjoy, you'll want to thank me afterwards.

See ya later.

The dentist office

Posted by PicasaFor those of you thinking about getting some dental work done in Pattaya this is what my dentist office looked like. The dentist did a great job and it was mostly pain free. The price was much less than in the U.S.A. and the work was just as good. I will get more work done here and would recommend to my friends.

Well I'm blogging again. My first day back in Thailand and this is my first meal. In one of my past blogs I talked about a thai food stall across from my hotel, well this is some of his work. 30 baht and a 10 baht tip. Oh my was it ever good. Since this it my first day back the spice in the food is burning me up but, I can't stop eating. I'll get my taste budds back one day.

A big part of this trip is going to be spent at the dentist. I was there on the first day and I'll be there on the second. The next day Sept 18th I'm going up to Ubon Ratchathani for two days. One place I will visit is Peppers cafe. He has his own blog and web page which at some point I'll posts but if you google peppers cafe you'll find him.

Once back to Pattaya I'm back to the dentist for bridges and caps, great fun while on vacation but, it's saving me a ton of money.

See ya.

Hi guys, sorry about taking so long to update the blog. My mom passed away and I just couldn't bring myself to post.

Well it's been awhile and I'm heading back to Thailand. I'll be arriving on the 5th of Feb. and most of my time will be spent up North in Korat then Nong Kai with a quick day trip to Laos. I'm sure this will sound a little funny to most but the main reason for Loas is to get a bowl of Pho. As I've written in a past post I love soup. I will also be looking for a soup called Kaou Soi. The spelling may not be correct but it sounds like, Cow Soi.

I'm really excited about this trip as I'll be playing golf, hopefully every other day and eating as much great Thai food as I can. Most of the Thai food will be from street vendors or from the markets so expect to see some pictures of food, golf and of course the night markets.

Have a great day.

The flight to Thailand

Well I enjoyed my 2 hours in the lounge and now that I have enough mile on EVA I will from now on be using the lounges when ever I fly EVA. I am also now addicted to getting more miles and moving up the ladder to the gold card. I think I've found the way to move up but that another story.

When you enter the lounge they tell you they'll call out the boarding of your flt, but you now know me, I can't be late so I left the lounge with way too much time on my hands. Next time I'll wait until they call.

On this flt I used some miles to upgrade to business, my first time, and I was excited to see how this would go. Long story short EVA does a very good job making you feel at home and some what special. As far as food goes we were served a five course meal which I will post pic of.

First was the snack, My choice was coffee for the drink and it was very good.

Next was smoked Salmon, wow, this was great.

Next was the meal which I picked this a head of time on EVA's website. I liked the meal but I might have picked a better meal. My fault. This is lamb in curry sauce.

Next was cheese, fruit and port wine. Very good and the port was wonderful. My first time trying port wine.

Next was dessert which I declined as I was so full I
was having a hard time breathing, no kidding. As far as the flt went I had a good time. The lady beside me was very nice and we had some long talks from LA to Taiwan. She was originally from Taiwan, went to college at Michigan where she met her husband. A nice lady and very easy to talk to. About half way to Taiwan both my TV and her TV went out we could watch some things but not the movies. The attendants tried t o get it fixed but it just would never work. So I read and slept. Which was fine with me.

13 hours later we landed in Taipei, late so I did not get to check out Taipei's lounge, maybe next year. Checked through security and it was off to my last leg to Bangkok. The excitement builds.
